Match Preview: Northampton Town v Charlton Athletic (Saturday, 3pm)

The visitors come into the game on the back of a win in their last match, having beaten County 2-1 away, with goals from Alfie May and Karoy Zidane Lovebourne Anderson.

The also won their last match, 2-0 against Burton Albion, with their goals scored by Mitchell Pinnock and Marc Leonard.

The Addicks are 20th in the table after 35 games, of which they have won eight and drawn 13, earning 37 points.

The Cobblers are eight places ahead of the visitors in 12th, with 14 wins and six draws putting them on 48 points.

The home side are in mixed form in League One, with two wins and two draws from their last six games.

With a win and three draws over that period, Charlton’s form is slightly worse – they have taken six points from 18, compared to Northampton’s eight.

Saturday’s match will be refereed by Martin Woods, who has taken charge of eight League One games so far this season, issuing one red card and booking 34 players. He has awarded one penalty.

The last Northampton game Woods refereed was a 1-0 home win against on August 19. He is yet to oversee a match featuring Charlton this season.
