Match Preview: Fleetwood Town v Wigan Athletic (Saturday, 3pm)

Town face Athletic at the Highbury Stadium on Saturday looking to secure a first win in six League One games.

The Cod Army have lost two and drawn three matches since they last earned three points – against Bristol on February 6.

They face a Wigan side who have won two and drawn one over that time.

Fleetwood are 23rd in the table after 35 games, of which they have won six and drawn 10, earning 28 points.

Wigan are 13 places ahead of Town in 10th, with 15 wins and seven draws putting them on 52 points.

In the last 10 years, Fleetwood and Wigan have played each other on 12 occasions. Fleetwood won two of them, Wigan seven, and they drew three times.

On average, the Cod Army scored 1.0 goal and the 2.1 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on November 28, when Wigan won 3-0 at home.

Saturday's match will be refereed by Jeremy Simpson, who has taken charge of six League One games so far this season, issuing two red cards and booking 37 players. He has awarded one penalty.

The last Wigan game Simpson refereed was the 4-2 loss away at United on February 13. He is yet to oversee a match featuring Fleetwood this season.
