A new approach has led to a significant increase in ball-in-play time across all three EFL divisions so far this season – and more goals.
Average effective playing time has increased by almost five minutes in the Championship this season, from 52 minutes 16 seconds to 57 minutes 3 seconds.
In League One, it has risen by more than five minutes, to 55 mins 29 secs, and in League Two, it has increased by more than seven minutes, jumping from 48 mins 8 secs to 55 mins 32 secs.
