Wycombe Wanderers defender Alfie Mawson says he has ‘done what I wanted to achieve’ in football after being forced to hang up his boots at the age of 29 due to injury.
He made his Football League debut on loan with the Chairboys from Brentford in 2014 and went on to play for Barnsley, Swansea, Fulham and Bristol City (loan).
He played in the Premier League for the Swans and Fulham, and received a call-up to the England squad in 2018, though he didn’t get the chance to play for the senior side.
