RELIEF FOR POMPEY ACE HIRST

GEORGE Hirst admitted it felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders after scoring his first Portsmouth goal.
The on-loan striker, 22, added Pompey’s third goal in the dying moments of the Papa John’s Trophy win over Crystal Palace’s Under-21 side.
Hirst said: “The longer it goes on, you start trying too hard and I think that’s what I’ve been guilty of.
“It was about proving myself right rather than proving other people wrong.
“There was a little feeling of relief to get that first goal.”
