GRANT’S READY TO START A NEW CHAPTER

GRANT Leadbitter announced his retirement from football this week at the age of 35.
The midfielder started his career at Sunderland, breaking into their first team in 2005 and moved to Ipswich four years later.
Leadbitter returned to the north east with Middlesbrough and sent six-and-a-half years on Teesside before rejoining his boyhood club Sunderland.
He made 587 career appearances and scored 65 goals.
In a post on Instagram, Leadbitter said: “After taking a few months off to enjoy a holiday with the family and reflect, I’ve realised I am ready to retire.
