Late hero Smith eases Dale’s drop concerns

BRIAN Barry-Murphy insisted there was nothing fortunate about his side’s late winner over Shrewsbury.
A drab encounter looked destined for a goalless draw until on-loan Sheffield United striker Tyler Smith converted from close-range two minutes from time.
The win gave Dale some much needed breathing room at the foot of League One with ten points now between them and third bottom Tranmere Rovers.
And Barry-Murphy was pleased to see his side rewarded for their efforts.
