Former Wigan chairman Sharpe’s stark warning

ASALARY cap must be imposed in the EFL to prevent more clubs following Bury into insolvency. That is the stark assessment of former Wigan chairman David Sharpe, who sold his family’s stake in the club last year after growing “disgusted” with spiralling wage costs.
“I can’t see another solution”, said the 28-year-old, whose grandfather, Dave Whelan, had owned the Latics for 23 years.
