JACK Ross refused to give up on Sunderland’s automatic promotion hopes despite almost certainly facing a playoff campaign after this draw with Portsmouth.
The home side dominated for long spells in front of a 41,129 crowd at the Stadium of Light, but were thwarted twice by the woodwork and repeatedly by an inspired display from Pompey goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray.
