Evans is Pompey’s captain marvel

PORTSMOUTH assistant manager Joe Gallen paid tribute to the allround abilities of Gareth Evans, whose 11th-minute goal condemned his old club, bottom side Bradford, to a sixth straight defeat.
To compound Bradford’s misery they had left-back Adam Chicksen sent off in the 83rd minute for a second bookable offence. It was Chicksen’s first game back in the side after 10 weeks out of action through injury.
Evans fired the ball into the roof of the net from 15 yards for the winning goal after Ronan Curtis’s cross found him in the box.
