‘Excellent’ Cox earns Powell’s plaudits…

SIMON Cox was the star of the show as his brace bagged Southend United a victory over a mediocre Gillingham.
Cox scored twice within ten minutes of the restart as United went five unbeaten in League One, moving into the top 10 in the process.
His first was a deflected effort, while the second was more composed – not that his manager Chris Powell minds how they come.
Powell said: “Coxy could have had a hat-trick – he was excellent. Confidence is a big thing for a striker and he is at the top of his game at the moment.
