Match Verdict

IT WOULD be too easy to call this ‘after the Lord Mayor’s Show’ but the match was always going to be a comedown after Wigan’s FA Cup heroics.
There were no more than flashes of quality but, with fixtures coming thick and fast from now on, the strength in depth is another tick in the box for the Latics.
Rochdale also had their moments and in their battle for survival an away trip to Wigan will not have been one they expected points from.
Keith Hill can now focus on Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth-round replay with Spurs at Wembley.
