Doncaster Rovers are close to agreeing a season-long loan deal for Southampton winger Josh Sims.
The product of Southampton’s esteemed academy is headed north for a medical at the League One club.
A loan move has the potential to become permanent should things work out at Rovers for Sims, who has previous loan spells at Reading and MLS side New York Red Bulls.
The 23-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Saints and figures to be a threat down the left wing for Doncaster once a medical ratifies the move.
Capped by England at Under-17 all the way through to Under-20 level, Sims has fallen out of favour at the south coast club and has instead featured only for Southampton U23s so far this season, scoring three goals in four matches.
Sims would become the ninth new arrival at the Keepmoat Stadium, joining Andy Butler, Ed Williams and Jason Lokilo at the mid-table League One side.
Since his debut in 2016, Sims has featured for Southampton’s first team in 20 matches.
