During his formative years at Rochdale and Rotherham United, Ollie Rathbone was widely regarded as an honest – but limited – midfield workhorse.

Yet as the recent avalanche of spectacular strikes and match-winning displays for Wrexham demonstrates, appearances can be deceptive.
Last weekend’s stunner in the 1-0 victory over Charlton Athletic was the 29-year-old’s seventh goal in the last 17 games, leaving him just one short of last season’s career-best tally ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.
