Rob Edwards suffered a dismal return to Vicarage Road as Watford shocked high-flying Middlesbrough with a clinical victory garnished by exotic finishing and a dash of controversy.

Bounced out by the Hornets after only ten league games, of which he lost only two, Edwards – whose last win as Watford head coach was, ironically, against Boro in August 2022 – returned to a frosty reception.
