Watford boss Tom Cleverley admitted his side had been handed a painful lesson as it was Millwall who closed in on the top-six with a comeback 2-1 victory.
The Hornets came into their lunchtime fixture with the Lions with hopes of closing the gap to the play-off places.
Their poor home form came to an end after a 2-0 victory over Luton Town, as they had hoped to make it back-to-back victories at Vicarage Road.
But goals from Casper De Norre and Josh Coburn overturned Mattie Pollock's opener as Watford suffered yet another setback to their play-off ambitions.
