Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to come up flush – with a former professional poker player at the helm.
James Bord has been chosen as the preferred bidder to take over the troubled Owls after a deal was struck with the troubled Championship club’s administrators on Wednesday.
The Owls have been in administration since October, ending 10 years under the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri.
London-born Bord started his career working for gambling firms Starlizard and Smartodds, and won $4.3m on the pro poker circuit.
