Middlesbrough suffered a fifth defeat in succession – and seventh in eight games – as their play-off hopes took another hit after a 2-1 defeat against Bristol City.
Manager Michael Carrick partly blamed the match officials as his side threw away a half-time lead at Ashton Gate, as they were undone by substitute George Earthy’s late brace.
He said: “We’ve been ahead in a lot of matches and come away with nothing.
