‘He is my man’ – Leeds United chairman confirms Daniel Farke will remain with the club

Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe has backed Daniel Farke as his manager to lead the Whites into the Premier League next season.

Weeks of speculation surrounding the German boss’ future have added a slight sour taste to Leeds’ Championship title-winning campaign.

Leeds defeated Plymouth Argyle 2-1 at Home Park to lift the trophy, Manor Solomon’s injury-time winner sparking wild celebrations in the away end.

However, Marathe has put an end to the reports in a recent interview, where he discussed the plans for the club going forward as they return to the top flight of English football.

Marathe to ‘run it back’ with Farke in Prem

“I’m very excited to run it back with Daniel and collaborate with him,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

“I’m under no illusions that it is going to be easy.

“The past two seasons, the three promoted teams came straight back down.

“But we have something they don’t have: we have Daniel Farke, first of all.

“I have ended the speculation; he is my man,” the American responded when asked if there was any truth in the reports of Farke losing his job.

Leeds finished on a club record 100 points and defeated Burnley to the title on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Farke achieved a third Championship league title in seven years, a remarkable feat for the former Norwich City boss.

“He is such a calming force – presence would be an understatement,” Marathe said of the 48-year-old boss.

“He really has a superpower that way.”

Marathe added: “He told you all he was 100% confident we were going to the Prem after the draw with Swansea, and he believed it, and I love him for it.

“He has that conviction and belief.

“I told him privately that I was looking forward to moving forward together.

“But I didn’t feel like it was my time to speak because someone wanted to put out a rumour.

“Together, we are going to build the best squad we can, with every penny we are allowed to spend to be competitive in the Premier League.

“We are going to attack the transfer market and it’s something I’m really excited about.”

A trophy parade takes place on Monday across the city of Leeds.

This week’s focus, however, will primarily be on making the big decisions in preparation for next season.
