Former Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and England midfielder Jermaine Jenas believes that Coventry City will go up this year.

He thinks they are nailed on for promotion, and he is full of praise for their manager, Frank Lampard.

Jenas tips Lampard to stick with Coventry for a year or two more before moving onto bigger clubs.

Coventry currently sit top of the Championship table, five points clear of second-place Middlesbrough and ten points clear in the automatic promotion places, and look set for a Premier League return.

Destined

In an exclusive interview with 10bet, Jenas believes Lampard has Coventry set for promotion and has learnt from his previous mistakes within management.

“I do think Coventry look destined for the Premier League,” he said. “I think Lampard’s qualities as a player are important to how he is as a manager.

“Some managers make a break, but I think the thing with Frank is that he was a player that refused to quit.

“Was he naturally the most gifted footballer on the planet? No, he wasn’t.

“He worked his socks off at it and became one of the most gifted players on the planet. I think he’s just learned his lessons as a manager.”

Tough

The 42-year-old would go on to defend Lampard’s previous tenures in the Premier League and believes that following promotion, he may move on from the Sky Blues.

“I don’t actually think he did a bad job at Chelsea, if I’m totally honest with you,” he added.

“The other experiences after that were much tougher. I think going into the Everton job, we’ve seen a conveyor belt of managers struggle post-Frank as well.

“I think that Coventry will go up – I expect him to manage them for a season or two, if he can keep them in the Premier League.

“Then I think Frank will really crack on with his Premier League managerial career or potentially an international one.”
