Former Chelsea, Liverpool and England defender Glen Johnson has backed his erstwhile Stamford Bridge team-mate Frank Lampard to guide Coventry City to the Premier League.
The Sky Blues are in with a shout of promotion so far this season under the former midfielder’s guidance, and Wednesday night’s emphatic 4-0 win over Millwall only strengthened belief in their credentials.
Haji Wright struck twice to take his tally to seven goals this season, making him the Championship’s leading scorer.
Lampard’s side are still unbeaten in the league, with back-to-back wins lifting them into the automatic promotion places, just behind leaders Middlesbrough.

Consistent
Even so, Johnson stressed the unforgiving nature of the division in an exclusive sitdown interview with 10bet.
“There’s a lot of teams that are capable in the Championship,” he said. “It’s just the ones that put a good run together who can end up going up via the promotion.
“There’s probably eight to 10 teams that can get relegated and probably eight teams that can go up.
“So it’s a crazy league, but I think whoever is most consistent and can put good runs together, then they’ve got a chance.”
Promotion
However, he thinks if Lampard can oversee a decent run of form, they have every chance at Coventry of gaining promotion to the Premier League.
“I think to predict who’s going to win the Championship or get promoted right now is almost impossible,” Johnson added.
“But I see no reason why Frank can’t get them up if he can keep them performing consistently and getting the results.”
