Town youngster Andre Dozzell has been handed a big-blow at the start of the season after suffering a cruciate injury that looks set to rule him out for the entire campaign.

The promising midfielder, who was a member of the under-20 squad who claimed World Cup glory in July, was stretchered off shortly before half-time during the ' 1-0 victory over .

After seeing a specialist last night, the 18-year-old will undergo surgery next week and then begin a nine-month recovery period.

Understandably, Ipswich boss Mick is disappointed to have lost the services of Dozzell, and told the club website: “I saw Dozzer yesterday and he was very down time. He is bound to be.

“It's the season out for him and it's very disappointing, for us but especially for Dozzer. He will get looked after well by our medical staff and we wish him as quick a recovery as possible.”
