Coventry City boss Frank Lampard was pleased with an improved second-half performance to complete the rout of Sheffield Wednesday.
Brandon Thomas-Asante scored twice and there was one apiece for Haji Wright, Ellis Simms and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto.
There was an on-pitch demonstration from a group of home supporters early on, protesting against owner Dejphon Chansiri, which delayed the match for five minutes.
