Match Preview: Millwall v Plymouth Argyle (Saturday, 3pm)

Millwall host Plymouth Argyle at the Den on Saturday on the back of three consecutive wins in the Championship.

Millwall have picked up 10 points from their last six games, and they face a Pilgrims side who lost their last match, and have collected seven points from the last possible 18.

In Morgan Whittaker, Plymouth have one of the league’s sharpest shooters so far this season. He has notched 19 goals in 44 appearances, to sit third in the scoring charts.

His goal rate of one every 200 minutes is much quicker than that of Zian Flemming, Millwall’s top scorer with a goal every 505 minutes, and a total of seven goals in 44 games.

Argyle are 20th in the table after 44 games, of which they have won 12 and drawn 12, earning 48 points.

The Lions are four places ahead of the Pilgrims in 16th, with 14 wins and 11 draws putting them on 53 points.

With 43 goals in 44 games so far this season, the home team are scoring at below the league average rate with 1.0 goals per game. But they are conceding fewer than average too, letting in 55 goals at a rate of 1.2 per game.

The visitors, meanwhile, are average scorers, with 1.3 goals per game. They have conceded 1.6 goals per game.

Millwall’s last match was on April 20, a 1-0 win against Sunderland, with Duncan Watmore getting the goal for the Lions.

Plymouth lost 3-0 against Stoke City last time out, also on April 20.
