Match Preview: Watford v Preston North End (Saturday, 2pm)

Preston North End travel to Watford on Saturday in the Championship.

The visitors come into the game on the back of a defeat in their last match, having lost to Birmingham City 1-0 away.

The Hornets, meanwhile, drew their last match, 2-2 against West Bromwich Albion, with their goals scored by Edo Kayembe and Mileta Rajovic.

In the last 10 years, Watford and Preston have played each other on six occasions. Watford won three of them, Preston one, and they drew twice.

On average, the Hornets scored 1.7 goals and the Lilywhites 0.5 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on December 16, when Watford won 5-1 away.

With 57 goals in 40 games so far this season, Watford are scoring at the league’s average rate with 1.4 goals per game. But they are conceding at an average rate too, letting in 55 goals at a rate of 1.4 per game.

Preston, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.3 goals per game. They have conceded 1.4 goals per game.

The Hornets are in disappointing form in the Championship, with one win and three draws from their last six games.

The Lilywhites are eighth in the table after 39 games, of which they have won 17 and drawn eight, earning 59 points.

Watford are six places behind the visitors in 14th, with 12 wins and 14 draws putting them on 50 points.
