Match Preview: Millwall v Watford (Saturday, 3pm)

Millwall and Watford both come into Saturday’s kick-off at the Den in poor form, having picked up only four points each in their last six games.

The two teams have each collected one win and one draw from their last six outings.

In the last 10 years, Millwall and Watford have played each other on nine occasions. They won three each, and they drew three times.

On average, the Lions scored 1.2 goals and the Hornets 1.1 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on October 28, when they played out a 2-2 draw.

With 33 goals in 34 games so far this season, Millwall are scoring at below the league average rate with 1.0 goals per game. And they are conceding at an average rate, letting in 47 goals at a rate of 1.4 per game.

Watford, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.5 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.4. They have conceded 1.4 goals per game.

Millwall’s last match was on February 24, a 2-1 win against Southampton, with Japhet Tanganga and Zian Flemming getting the goals for the Lions.

Watford lost 2-1 against Huddersfield Town last time out, also on February 24, with Emmanuel Dennis on the scoresheet.

Saturday’s match will be refereed by Gavin Ward, who has taken charge of 18 Championship games so far this season, issuing two red cards and booking 73 players. He has awarded two penalties.

The last Millwall game Ward refereed was a 4-0 away win against Sheffield Wednesday on November 11. His last Watford match was their 1-1 draw away at Cardiff City on October 7.
