Beale's Cats taken to cleaners by Sky Blues
Sunderland's new era under boss Michael Beale suffered a nightmare start as they were rolled over 3-0 by Coventry City at the Stadium of Light.
Tatsuhiro Sakamoto opened the scoring for Mark Robins' side in first-half stoppage time, with Callum O'Hare and Kasey Palmer finding the net in the second half.
Former QPR and Rangers manager Beale admitted: “Today couldn't have gone any worse, let's be honest about it. We have to apologise to our fans and we have to respond in a couple of days' time.
“We need to look forward. The team needs to get better results than it did today.”
New Stoke City manager Steven Schumacher began his reign with a goalless draw at home against Millwall.
