Mowbray applauds ‘amazing support’

Tony Mowbray says he is ‘enthusiastic’ for his next challenge after his surprise Sunderland departure.
The former West Brom, Middlesbrough and Blackburn boss led the Black Cats into the Championship play-offs last term having joined at the end of August last year.

However, he was axed two weeks ago after his side won just two of their previous nine league games and slipped to ninth in the table.

In a statement issued on his behalf by the League Managers Association, the 60-year-old said: “After 15 eventful months my time at Sunderland has come to an end.
