Noel Hunt admitted his Reading side need favours from other teams after this draw with fellow strugglers Wigan kept them in the relegation zone.
After a poor first half, Wigan thought that they had given themselves a survival lifeline when Charlie Hughes headed them in front in the 81st minute.
