Goalkeeper Tomas Mejias has signed a new two year contract with Middlesbrough.
The 27-year-old joined Boro on a permanent deal from Real Madrid in 2014 after his contract with the Spanish giants ran out.
He has started games this season and was between the sticks for Middlesbrough’s dramatic penalty shoot out victory at Old Trafford in October.
Middlesbrough have the best defensive record in the Championship this season, having only conceded 14 goals in 27 league games.
Aitor Karanka‘s side are currently sitting in second place in the Championship table, one behind league leaders Hull.
