Seasiders and Pompey appoint bosses

THE EFL welcomed managers old and new this week as veteran firefighter Mick McCarthy was appointed by Championship strugglers Blackpool before rookie John Mousinho took charge at League One Portsmouth.
McCarthy, 63, was widely presumed retired after being sacked by Cardiff on the back of a club-record eighth straight loss in October 2021.
But after the Seasiders dismissed Michael Appleton on Wednesday, the former Wolves, Sunderland, Ipswich and Republic of Ireland boss was immediately identified as the man to haul Blackpool out o...
