WAYNE Rooney is encouraged by this week’s progress towards a takeover of Derby and hopes a deal can be struck soon.
The club went into administration in September and were docked 12 points as a result, but Rooney is hoping better news off the pitch can produce benefits on it.
“Things are trying to be put in place with the administrators and possible new owners,” he said.
“As far as I am concerned, it is moving in the right direction, which will only benefit us on the field. Hopefully it can get sorted as soon as.”
