PORTSMOUTH defender Jack Whatmough is confident he is nearing a return to the first team after an 11-month injury lay-off.
The 23-year-old skippered a Pompey reserve side against Plymouth in midweek and completed the full 90 minutes.
Whatmough said: “It’s another step ticked off that I needed and, hopefully, I can start getting in contention again. That’s something I’m looking forward to, but to play 90 minutes is a credit to the physios.”
