CARLISLE director of football David Holdsworth claims the club got “an excellent deal” when selling young defender Jarrad Branthwaite to Everton.
The fee for the 17-yearold was undisclosed, although the League Two Cumbrians described it as “substantial”.
Holdsworth said: “I think everyone will appreciate and understand that it can become very difficult for the individual when clubs at the highest level – some of the biggest clubs in the country – come calling.
