GARY Sweet, the chief executive of Luton Town, has called for a cap on wages to curb overspending in the Championship.
I can understand his frustration, but let’s be fair. The Eflalready have tight regulations on spending that limit losses to £39m over three seasons and you must leave scope for ambition. What’s more, a wage cap is unlikely to work.
Just like Financial Fair Play, clubs and their accountants will work out a way of getting around the rules, rendering the whole thing pointless.
