SOUTHEND chairman Ron Martin has hit back at claims ex-boss Phil Brown made to The Football League Paper last month that he should not have been placed on gardening leave and is owed money.
Brown, 58, left Southend in January following a run of seven defeats in eight matches, with the club confirming he would be placed on gardening leave and paid monthly until the end of the season.
However, the new Swindon boss claims he was entitled to receive the remainder of his contract in a lump sum.
