Geremi believes Coventry City could be a stepping stone for Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard Coventry

Frank Lampard is only a few months removed from the heartbreak of ‘s last-gasp play-off defeat to —but already, there’s a growing belief that this season could mark a turning point. Not just for the club, but for the man in the dugout.

“He looks like he’s well qualified to succeed with Coventry this season,” said former , , and Real Madrid midfielder Geremi to BestBettingSites.co.uk.

“And I think he could take them up.”

That outcome would be huge for Coventry, but it could be even more significant for Lampard himself.

As Geremi suggests, this season may well become a launchpad—a chance for the former Chelsea and midfielder to restore his managerial reputation and take aim at another top job.

“I think Frank has already impressed at a few clubs,” Geremi added.

“I think at Chelsea he did well particularly, and maybe he didn’t match that success elsewhere.”

Still in the relatively early stages of his coaching career, Lampard has already experienced the highs and lows that come with life in the dugout.

A play-off final with . A top-four finish with Chelsea, despite a transfer ban. And tougher spells at and back at Stamford Bridge in an interim role.

Re-energised

Now at Coventry, he appears re-energised—and crucially, in the right environment to prove himself again.

“Coventry, it’s a great city, it’s a big club,” said Geremi.

“He has the chance to re-establish his reputation and come back strongly. I think then he’ll be in a position to take on another big role.”

The are once again in the play-off picture, and with six games played, they’re looking like a side that has learned from last year’s late collapse. The team is more balanced, more organised—and their manager appears even more determined.

“It’s like being a footballer,” Geremi said. “Often you have to move to improve your career every few years. Right now, things are looking good at Coventry.”

Lampard hasn’t hidden from last season’s disappointment. Watching his team concede in the dying seconds of a play-off semi-final was a brutal way to end a promising run. But instead of being defined by that moment, he’s used it to drive this new campaign forward.

The pressure is real, but so is the opportunity. Coventry have given Lampard space to build, and the Championship, with all its unpredictability, is offering the perfect platform to show he can deliver when it counts.

Whether this is the start of a longer-term project or simply the next stop on Lampard’s journey, one thing is clear: his work at Coventry is already turning heads.
