Cardiff’s Joe Bennett feared to have suffered serious knee injury

left back Joe Bennett has suffered a possible season-ending injury in Cardiff's 4-0 win over on Tuesday evening.

Cardiff fullback, Bennett, went down unchallenged in the middle of the pitch at the Stadium, with an hour played. A six-minute stoppage followed with the 30 year old requiring a stretcher to leave the field.

Bluebird's manager , said post match that he fears that his left back will be facing a lengthy period out of action, pointing to a potential “ligaments or ACL” injury.

“He's not good, I'm not a doctor or a surgeon but he'll be assessed tomorrow,” said McCarthy.

“He's not in good shape anyway. It's his knee. Exceptionally tough for him, you could tell it wasn't right. There will be suspicions of being ligaments or ACL all that.

“Until he has a scan and the doctors have decided what it is, I'm not going to try and attempt to say what it is. Everybody will have a guess.

McCarthy, however, has no “worries” about playing Cardiff academy graduate Joel Bagan for the remainder of the season, describing the young fullback as “terrific.”

“I've got absolutely zero worries about Joel Bagan,” McCarthy added.

“He's very unfortunate that he's got such a good player and experienced player in front of him. Joe's vastly experienced and a good player.

“But Joel has got big things ahead of him and is terrific.”
