Take a Look at the Miami Marlins Five Takeaways

The Miami Marlins are seven games off the pace for a Wild Card spot in the National League. The next few weeks will determine if they buy, sell or do a combination of both before the trade deadline. Here are five takeaways on where the team stands.

Don Mattingly Makes a Notable Decision

On Wednesday night, manager Don Mattingly decided to stick with his ace. Alcantara notified Mattingly on a mound visit that he planned to finish the job after 115 pitches. Two pitches later, he induced a game-ending double play, clinching a 4-3 win. It was his second complete game of the season and fifth in his career. Additionally, the 117 pitches are a personal record for him.

Mattingly’s signal to his ace and team was his most important decision this season. Whether or not the Marlins will remain in the playoffs in 2022 depends on these core players. Mattingly showed confidence in his ace. And if you are confident in your bets, you should check out baseball betting sites in Florida.

The Biggest moment for Avisail Garcia

The big Marlins moment finally came for Avisail Garcia. During Wednesday’s ninth inning, he hit the game-winning, two-run home run with two outs, making it the biggest hit of his career as a Marlins player.

Marlins dismiss Gary Denbo

Earlier this week, the Marlins made an internal decision. They announced Wednesday that they parted ways with Gary Denbo as vice president of scouting and player development for the Marlins.

Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s Injury

With a right lower-back strain Jazz Chisholm Jr. is on the injured list for ten days. It is uncertain whether Chisholm will be able to play in the All-Star Game due to his injury. There are two finalists for second base, Chisholm, the fan’s favorite, and Atlanta’s Ozzie Albies. The 60-day IL for Albies increases Chisholm’s chance of starting at Dodger Stadium in the Midsummer Classic.

It would be the first time a Marlins position player has started an All-Star Game since Marcell Ozuna in 2017. Besides hitting 14 homers and 45 RBIs, the 24-year-old is an excellent fielder and a catalyst for his team.

Hopes for Joey Wendle’s Return

Infielder Joey Wendle has been out with a hamstring injury since June 1st. The team hopes the infielder will be able to rejoin the club during the Fourth of July weekend series. With Chisholm injured, Wendle ‘s return will be crucial for the Marlins.
