The season I spent playing for Sheffield Wednesday was the only time I ever felt famous as a footballer.
You’d go out and everybody in the city would recognise you. Everybody would stop you and talk about the team.
I remember playing against Hull one Wednesday night and there were 29,000 people inside Hillsborough in the lashing rain.
I stood there looking around thinking, ‘What a place this is. What a football club’.
