In the summer of 2013, alarmed local residents reported that the Ricoh Arena had been consumed by a raging inferno.
“Terrible scenes,” posted BBC pundit Robbie Savage in response to photographs that showed smoke and flames billowing into the Coventry sky.
The ‘fire’, it transpired, was actually a pyrotechnic rehearsal by rock band Muse, but nobody would have been surprised if the stadium was burning to the ground. It seems to have been cursed from its inception.
