I’m a big admirer of the Cowley brothers, so it’s disappointing to see them sacked by Portsmouth.
However, it’s a decision I completely understand from the club’s point of view. Top of the league at the end of September, Pompey won one of their last 13 matches and fell nine points off the play-offs.
Injuries have been a killer. Big signings haven’t performed. Joe Pigott hasn’t shown the form people expected. Josh Koroma hasn’t produced. Dane Scarlett looks like what he is - ateenager playing men’s football for the first time.
