Wolves’ Adam Armstrong surges forward against Blackburn Rovers last weekend

For Adam Armstrong, last weekend’s Championship curtain-raiser against Blackburn Rovers did not just mark a meeting with his former club.
It was a reunion with the manager to whom the 29-year-old Wolves striker owes his entire career.
Tony Mowbray, who returned to Ewood Park in June, was managing Coventry City in League One when he landed Armstrong on a season-long loan from Newcastle United at the start of the 2015-16 campaign.
Aged just 18, he finished the season with 20 goals, only to be overlooked by Rafa Benitez when the Magpies were relegated to the Championship.
