STAGS SECURE BEST FINISH SINCE 1987 AFTER WINNING A THRILLER

MANSFIELD Town boss Nigel Clough was full of joy after watching his side beat runners-up Cardiff in a nine-goal thriller to claim their highest league finish for 39 years.
“It was a fitting way to end the season and an exceptional game,” he said.
“You don’t get a 5-4scoreline very often and it capped off a wonderful season. We went after them from the start and we were very clinical. Cardiff created quite a few chances themselves – it was an open end of season game.
