5. Gustavo Hamer – Sheffield United
Versatility, creativity, and relentless work rate have made Gustavo Hamer one of the standout midfielders in the Championship this season.
Playing for Sheffield United, Hamer has recorded 10 assists and two goals in 29 league appearances, underlining his importance in the Blades’ attacking play.
His ability to consistently create chances for teammates has been a crucial part of the Blades’ forward momentum throughout the campaign.
One of Hamer’s most valuable qualities is his versatility. While naturally a central midfielder, he is also capable of operating on the left wing, allowing his side to use his creativity in multiple areas of the pitch.
Wherever he plays, he brings energy, technical quality, and attacking intent.
His playmaking ability is among the best in the division. Hamer regularly looks to progress the ball forward, whether through clever passing, driving runs from midfield, or dangerous deliveries into the penalty area.
Another key part of his game is his high pressing intensity. Hamer works tirelessly off the ball, closing down opponents quickly and helping his team regain possession high up the pitch.
This relentless pressing makes him just as valuable defensively as he is in attack.
He is also a major threat from direct free kicks, possessing the technique and confidence to test goalkeepers from distance whenever United win set pieces in dangerous areas.
With his creativity, work rate, and ability to influence games from multiple positions, Hamer continues to demonstrate why he remains one of the Championship’s most influential midfielders this season.

4. Ollie McBurnie – Hull City
For Hull City, Ollie McBurnie has been one of the most influential strikers in the Championship this season.
The Scottish forward has produced 13 goals and six assists in 29 appearances, highlighting just how central he has been to Hull’s attacking output.
Those numbers not only place him among the more productive forwards in the division but also show his ability to contribute both as a scorer and a creator.
One of McBurnie’s biggest strengths is his positioning inside the penalty area.
He consistently finds space between defenders and anticipates where chances will fall, allowing him to convert opportunities that others might miss.
Alongside this, his anchor play as a central striker has been vital for the Tigers.
McBurnie’s physical presence allows him to hold up the ball effectively, bringing teammates into attacking moves and giving his side a reliable focal point in the final third.
His ability to win aerial duels and shield possession makes it easier for his side to build attacks and relieve pressure when needed.
However, McBurnie’s game is not solely based on physicality.
His improved decision-making and awareness have also allowed him to provide assists for teammates, further demonstrating his importance to Sergej Jakirovic side’s attacking structure.
With his combination of goal-scoring ability, intelligent positioning, and strong hold-up play, McBurnie has been a key figure in Hull’s campaign this season.

3. Hayden Hackney – Middlesbrough
Few midfielders in the Championship have been as consistent and influential this season as Hayden Hackney.
The Middlesbrough academy graduate has been a constant presence in midfield, starting all 38 of the club’s league matches, and contributing five goals and seven assists.
His ability to control games and contribute in the final third has been pivotal for Boro throughout the campaign.
One of Hackney’s biggest strengths is his playmaking ability. Operating primarily in central midfield, he regularly dictates the tempo of matches with intelligent passing and calm decision-making under pressure.
His vision allows him to spot forward runs and create attacking opportunities for teammates. Another key element of his game is his high pressing intensity.
Hackney works tirelessly off the ball, helping Boro regain possession quickly and disrupt opposition attacks before they develop.
This energy and defensive awareness make him a crucial part of Boro’s midfield structure.
Despite still being relatively young, Hackney plays with remarkable composure and maturity.
His ability to control matches, contribute goals and assists, and maintain a high level of performance across every game this season has made him one of the Championship’s most reliable midfielders.

2. Haji Wright – Coventry City
Few attacking players in the Championship have been as dangerous this season as Haji Wright.
The United States international has made 33 appearances for Coventry City, scoring 16 goals and providing one assist, making him one of the most reliable goal scorers in the division.
One of Wright’s biggest strengths is his versatility in attack. While he is capable of leading the line as a central striker, he can also operate effectively on the left wing, where his pace and direct running allow him to attack defenders in one-on-one situations.
This flexibility gives the Sky Blues multiple tactical options in the final third.
Standing at 6’4, Wright combines his physical presence with impressive speed and technical ability.
His movement off the ball allows him to find space behind defensive lines, while his composure in front of goal has enabled him to convert chances consistently throughout the campaign.
Whether drifting wide to create space or attacking the penalty area as a striker, Wright has been a constant threat to opposition defences.
His goal-scoring consistency and attacking versatility have made him one of Coventry’s most important players this season.

1. Zan Vipotnik – Swansea City
At the top of the list is Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik, who has been the standout performer in the Championship this season.
The Slovenian forward has made 36 appearances for Swansea City, scoring 17 goals and providing one assist, making him the league’s top goalscorer.
His goals have been crucial in the Swans’ attacking output throughout the campaign.
Vipotnik has developed into one of the most complete forwards in the division.
His intelligent movement inside the penalty area allows him to consistently find space in dangerous positions, while his composure in front of goal has helped him convert chances at an impressive rate.
Standing at over six feet tall, he also offers a strong physical presence up front.
This allows Swansea to use him as a focal point in attack, whether through crosses into the box or direct build-up play.
At the same time, his ability to link up with teammates helps bring others into attacking moves.
What separates Vipotnik from many other strikers in the league is his consistency. Throughout the season, he has delivered goals in crucial moments, often proving to be the difference in tight matches.
With 17 goals already to his name and leading the Championship scoring charts, Vipotnik’s impact this season makes him, in my opinion, the most outstanding player in the league.
