Warren Burrell believes his “big decision” to leave behind a career laying tarmac has been fully cemented by becoming Harrogate Town’s all-time appearance record holder.
The 35-year-old skipper was set to make his 450th outing for the Sulphurites against Walsall yesterday, having usurped 1980s club legend Paul Williamson during last week’s 3-1 Vertu Trophy triumph over Newcastle Under-21s.
But Burrell admits he faced a dilemma when Harrogate went full-time in 2017, just 18 months into his second spell at Wetherby Road.
