Second-half goals from David McGoldrick, Nick Tsaroulla, and Will Jarvis earned promotion-chasing Notts County an important 3-0 win over MK Dons.

After a dominant first half, McGoldrick fired County into a 47th-minute lead with a curling strike from the edge of the box which nestled in the top corner.

Tsaroulla doubled the hosts’ advantage seven minutes later, lashing home at the back post after Jarvis’ cross from the left had evaded everyone and landed kindly at his feet.

Jarvis, who was named as man of the match, then made sure of the result in the 74th minute, cutting inside and bending a shot into the far corner.

Before the break, McGoldrick had also seen a goal-bound flick stopped by visiting goalkeeper Connal Trueman, while Charlie Whitaker scooped a close-range effort narrowly wide.

The mid-table visitors’ best chance came in the first half shortly after Trueman had denied McGoldrick, but Connor Lemonheigh-Evans dragged his effort wide from 18 yards out.

Victory for Stuart Maynard’s side moved them up two places to fourth, just two points outside the automatic promotion places.
