SUNDERLAND’S interim manager Mike Dodds praised the mental strength of Daniel Ballard after the Black Cats defender was booed every time he touched the ball.
Having guided the visitors to only their second victory in 12 games, Dodds handed out special praise to Ballard who was forced to cope in a testing atmosphere.
Ballard, whose foul on West Brom striker Josh Maja in the reverse fixture at the Stadium Of Light back in December ruled the striker out for four months, endured a tough afternoon.
