Match Preview: Leyton Orient v Blackpool (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Leyton Orient host Blackpool on Tuesday at Brisbane Road in League One.

In their last league match, on Saturday, Orient beat Oxford United 2-1 away, with goals from George Moncur and Oliver O’Neill.

Blackpool also won, 4-1 at home against Bolton Wanderers, with Jake Beesley (two), Jordan Gabriel and Marvin Ekpiteta on the scoresheet.

With 54 goals in 34 games so far this season, Blackpool are scoring more than average in the league with 1.6 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 40 goals at a rate of 1.2 per game.

Orient, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.2 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.3. They have also conceded 1.2 goals per game.

In Jordan Rhodes, the Seasiders have one of the league’s sharpest shooters so far this season. He has notched 15 goals in 25 appearances, to sit fifth in the scoring charts.

His goal rate of one every 140 minutes is quicker than that of Ruel Sotiriou, the home side’s top scorer with a goal every 240 minutes, and a total of 10 goals in 33 games.

The visitors are eighth in the table after 34 games, of which they have won 15 and drawn eight, earning 53 points.

Orient are one place behind Blackpool in ninth, with 14 wins and nine draws putting them on 51 points.

Orient are in reasonable form in League One, with four wins and two losses from their last six games.

With two wins and two draws over that period, Blackpool’s form is worse – they have taken eight points from 18, compared to the hosts’ 12.
