Hecky’s boys closing in
Sheffield United took another giant stride towards the Premier League with a 4-1 win against Cardiff – and boss Paul Heckingbottom is delighted their destiny is in their own hands.
Trailing to Sory Kaba’s penalty, the Blades hit back through James McAtee, Jack Robinson, Ili- man Ndiaye and Ciaran Clark.
It maintained their five-point advantage over third-placed Luton, who won 2-0 at Rotherham, and United also have a game in hand. It means they need a maximum of eight points from their last five games to seal promotion.
“We’ve got ourselves in a position where it’s just about us and that’s all we’ve ever wanted,” said Heckingbottom, above.
“Boro won again. Luton’s form is unreal. But the more games you win, the more the margin for error closes for the chasing pack.”
